Local Economic Community Plan Launch
Wednesday saw the launch of Laois County Council's Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) and Laois Climate Action Plan (LACAP) at Emo Court.
The event was attended by Laois Chamber Alliance, Laois Partnership Company, Laois Local Enterprise Office, Laois PPN, the HSE and the DSP.
The (LECP) details a comprehensive strategy to “foster economic growth, enhancing community development and well-being, as well as promoting sustainable development across the county.”
In contrast, the (LACAP) address climate change, reduce carbon emissions, and build resilience against environmental challenges. The aims of these plans were established through community input and collaberation with 'a wide range of stakeholders and organisations.'
Laois County Council Cathaoirleach Pascal McEvoy expressed his confidence and hopes for these plans.
“I am happy and proud to launch the (LECP). This event marks a significant milestone in the sustainable economic and community development of County Laois,” he said.
“I wish to acknowledge the active participation of everyone involved, the efforts of the LECP Advisory Steering Group, the Strategic Policy Committees and the LCDC in shaping this Plan and in the ongoing implementation of it. Your involvement is crucial to the success of these initiatives aimed at improving Laois's economic vitality and community sustainability.”
Pamela Tynan, a Chief Officer of Laois LCDC, also shared her faith in the projects.
“The development and implementation of these plans have been a collaborative effort involving diverse stakeholders from across the county,” she said.
“This inclusive approach ensures that our strategies are well-rounded and reflective of the community's needs and aspirations. I am confident that through continued partnership, we will achieve our vision for a sustainable and thriving Laois.”
