Laois people are invited to get trees for free at an upcoming National Tree Week spring giveaway in Portlaoise.
Laois PPN and Portlaoise Tidy Towns invite people from across the county to the ‘Free Native Irish Tree Give Away’ eco event in early March as part of a Climate Action Project.
They told the Leinster Express / Laois Live want people to come along to the Macra Hall in the heart of the County Town to collect a Free Native Irish Tree, with advice on hand from Brian Gaynor of Trees on the Land, who will guide you through the wide variety of native Irish trees that will be available.
There will be arts and crafts on the day for young people, and a raffle with the winner receiving a prize of a ‘Free Gardening for Biodiversity Consultation’ by T&C Gardens which includes plants and accessories worth €250.
Vincent Booth, Chairperson Portlaoise Tidy Towns, is looking forward to seeing lots of local people on the day.
“Portlaoise Tidy Town and Laois PPN look forward to welcoming Community Groups from across Laois to our ‘Free Native Irish Tree Give Away’ at Macra Na Feirme Hall. Tree planting combats climate change, promotes biodiversity and enhances our landscape,” he said.
