Laois townspeople invited to give their regeneration views

Mountrath residents are being given their chance to give their views on local improvement works as part of the town's regeneration at a public information evening.

Supported by the Regeneration Section Laois County Council, the event features a presentation and discussion of planned landscaping and public realm improvements to the Whitehorse River Walk and Patrick Street. There will also be information on the new streetscape enhancement scheme for the painting of eligible buildings in the town.

People in the community who attend will be able to see the proposed plans and visuals, as well as learning about sustainable landscaping and biodiversity initiatives.

Apart from the plans for Patrick St and the River Walk, the future appearance of the Quaker Burial Ground will also be displayed at the Mountrath event.

Questions can be asked and feedback given during a Q&A session. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

Attendees will also be able to talk to advisors from Laois County Council’s Business Support Unit about the Streetscape Enhancement Scheme for painting properties.

The event is organised by the Council's Regeneration Section, supported by Mountrath’s Town Team. It is funded under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme by the Department of Rural and Community Development in association with Laois County Council.

"Whether you are a daily user of Mountrath’s green spaces or simply care about the towns’ future or indeed a business in the area, we encourage you to come along.

"We look forward to seeing you there and working together to create a greener, more vibrant, and regenerated Mountrath," say the organisers.

The event takes place on Thursday, June 12 from 5:30pm to 7pm at the Liath Liachra Suite, Bloom HQ, Mountrath, R32 DT9F.

The team is comprised of representatives from all the local community groups within the town and initially, it will focus on projects which will promote the social and economic revival of Mountrath Town Centre.
