The Heath GAA are set to take to the stage in the New Year as they have officially launched their highly anticipated Lip Sync Battle fundraiser.

Ten teams will battle it out on January 2 in The Heritage in Killenard for a fun-packed night of entertainment. All funds raised will go towards the completion of renovation works on The Heath Community Hall, as well as the erection of floodlights and pitch resurfacing.

There has been a huge response from the local community with volunteers performing, organising or supporting a whole range of projects in the run up to the event. The performers are learning their routines under the expert gaze of choreographer Orna Phelan and, while details of the acts are a tightly-kept secret until the night of the show, those in attendance can expect a superb night’s entertainment.

The appeal of the Lip Sync Battle can be seen in the breadth of participants, from boys and girls on the Portlaoise parish club’s minor teams all the way up to members of the local Active Retired group rowing in to help out.

There are also teams entered from the club’s successful Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others squad, the senior football team, while the award-winning Treacy’s Bar and Restaurant are also set to rock the stage, along with many more.

Each team will organise their own fundraising event in the lead up to the big show, with raffles, discos, movie nights, scrap metal collections and more on the agenda.

“We have been delighted with the response from the community; I can tell already we are going to have a brilliant night on January 2.

“Our club is growing every year and the funds raised from this will go towards renovating and installing facilities that everyone, young and old, will benefit from,” he said.

The event is organised in conjunction with Lip Sync Battles Ireland.
