Momentum, the education and innovation company based in Leitrim Village, was honoured to be accepted as a signatory of Diversity Charter Ireland at a ceremony in TU Dublin.

Recognising their work for the last 20 years as a practitioner of diversity, equality and inclusion, Momentum joins 67 organisations as signatories to Diversity Charter Ireland, including 3M, Aer Lingus, AIB, An Post and is one of the smallest companies to be accepted as a signatory.

By signing Diversity Charter Ireland organisations make public a statement of commitment, to address diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace in a framework that is tailored to the Irish context.

In addition, signatories join a community of organisations in 26 Diversity Charters across the EU, with over 12,000 signatory organisations covering at least 16 million employees. This activity is supported by the European Commission through the EU Platform of Diversity Charters, which ties in with Momentum’s work across Europe.

Founder of Momentum, Orla Casey explains “with a team of 18 employees, Momentum staff embrace diversity and bring a colourful mix of experiences from work and life. Diversity has been a key strength in the growth of Momentum in Europe, and we are currently in the final stages of setting up a US-based sister company to widen our impact. This is an exciting adventure for us, but the potential to transfer innovation is enormous”.

Momentum provides highly accessible, inclusive learning opportunities for all in society, and supports enterprises with inclusive social missions. They do this by advocating, educating, researching, and forming partnerships around intercultural diversity and inclusion, building positive narratives around diversity in race, ethnicity and every other type of heritage diversity. Current projects that are funded via the ERASMUS+ programme include:

  • Wellhoody - WELLHOODY) is an innovative approach that will upskill YOUTH educators & communities in racially diverse communities to empower youth wellbeing & recognise strengths that are coming from diversity.
  • Day One in Europe – What happens when a child arrives in Europe on their first day? This project seeks to accelerate their  inclusion through music, food, writing and play so they showcase their own culture and who they are.
  • Ingrow- Entrepreneurship educational tools for migrant and ethnic minority background founders.

Other projects include WeRin, making entrepreneurship education and support programmes more inclusive for women and ARENAS, a Horizon Europe project to research and respond to extremist narratives that affect political and social life in Europe.
