Fine Gael TD, Frank Feighan has been informed by the Minister for the Office of Public Works, Patrick O’Donovan TD that he has today approved €213,191 to Leitrim County Council, under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works & Coastal Protection Scheme.
The funding is being provided to construct a containment structure with a headwall and a removal weir (including pumps) on the southwest side of the road at Keadue Road, Leitrim Village.
In the past houses at ‘Cluain Óir’ housing estate were affected by flooding and now this measure will ensure any future threat is dealt with.
“I am delighted that Leitrim County Council’s work to get this funding has paid off, I want to acknowledge the work of Senior Engineer, Shay O’Connor and his team at Leitrim County Council for placing this good and sensible application before the OPW and I would like to acknowledge and thank my colleague, Minister O’Donovan for his positive response to my representations,” said Deputy Feighan.
