The Leitrim Local Economic & Community Plan (LECP) 2023-2029 was launched by Cllr. Justin Warnock, Cathaoirleach, Leitrim County Council in Carrick Business Campus on Wednesday, 31st January 2024.

The Leitrim LECP 2023 – 2029 is a high-level overarching plan and includes an ambition for the County for the six year period.

It is an integrated plan which means that it reflects the cross cutting and interlinked nature of economic development and community wellbeing, ensuring that both elements, which are hugely significant to the development of Leitrim as a County, are implemented consistently.

It includes high-level goals, objectives and outcomes for the 6 year period known as the LECP Framework which will guide the County’s economic and community development.

The event was well attended by representatives from the PPN, Community Groups, Business Sector, Elected Representatives, State Agencies, Leitrim County Council and Leitrim Development Company.

Mr. Justin Fannon, A/Director of Service, Economic Development, Planning & Infrastructural Services, Leitrim County Council acted as MC for the evening.

Mr. Joseph Gilhooly, Interim Chief Executive, Leitrim County Council addressed the attendees, followed by Mr. James Gallagher, Chair of the Local Community Development Committee with Cllr. Sean McDermott, Chair of the Strategic Policy Committee for Planning, Economic Development and Infrastructure being the final speaker before the official launch by the Cathaoirleach.

Included as part of the Framework document, is a two year Implementation Plan which provides the Local Community Development Committee with an initial Action Plan for the two year period 2024 - 2025, the implementation of which will be monitored and evaluated through Key Performance Indicators

This will ensure that the LECP is an active, live document, the actions of which will be on the Agenda for all enabling bodies identified in the Implementation Plan.

It will look to assist in creating a County that is prosperous, sustainable and inclusive with an excellent quality of life.
