A company called Roller Coaster are continuously on the hunt for lesser-used, homegrown names that you won’t often hear on the playground.

Tuathla is a beautiful Irish girl’s name pronounced too-lah. Meaning ‘princess of the people,’ it is said to come from the traditional boy’s name Tuathal or ‘ruler of the people’. On Irish naming lists, Tuathla is so rare that it has only appeared once on the charts since records began in 1964.A name needs to be given to at least three little girls in order to be charted in Ireland, and that only happened once before in 2007.

Líobhan Pronounced: lee-of-awn.Meaning: “beautiful“.Réalta Pronounced: rayle-tah meaning: “little star“.Rioghnach Pronounced: ree-knock meaning: “queen“.

Gobnait Pronounced: gob-knit meaning: “brings joy”.Deirdre Pronounced: deer-druh.meaning: “broken-hearted“
