Condolences are being shared in memory of Sean Guckian of Clooncliva, Mohill, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29.

RIP: Fond memories of Leitrim man who ‘lived life on his terms and at his pace’

Tributes have been paid following the peaceful passing of a Leitrim man described as a “great character.”

Sean Guckian of Clooncliva, Mohill, passed away on Sunday, March 29, peacefully at Sligo University Hospital.

He is predeceased by his parents Bernard and Mary Ann and his brother Barney. Sean will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Edel, nephew Kevin, niece Lorraine, cousins, relatives, neighbours, and friends.

Many have shared condolences on RIP.ie in memory of Sean following his passing. One tribute read: “Another great character gone from Mohill. Memories of Sean in Luke's Bar.”

Another wrote: “Lovely childhood memories of Sean who was so kind to us during our many summer holidays nearby. May Sean rest in peace.”

“He was a real friendly gentleman and always willing to chat,” another person recalled.

Sean’s funeral mass took place on April 1 at St Joseph’s Church, Cloonturk, followed by burial in Mohill cemetery.

Further tributes remembered his distinctive personality and presence in the community. “A sound man and a great character. May he Rest in Peace,” one message read.

Another shared: “A one off character. He was very knowledgeable on many things, loved to chat and tell stories. He lived life on his terms and at his pace. Sean enjoyed bingo, cards and visits to the town. A great age and one of the last older characters in Clooncliva and surrounds.”

“Enjoyed his company, wit and many stories over the years. May he rest in peace,” another tribute added.
