Kinlough
Leitrim County Council has no money for the development of new car parks but local community groups may be able to access funding schemes to provide one instead.
The comments came at the recent Manorhamilton MD meeting. Noting the growing population in Kinlough, Cllr Justin Warnock said the lack of public parking is “becoming a serious issue for local businesses.”
He asked that the Roads Department “investigate what can be done to alleviate this problem before any public realm works are undertaken in Kinlough.” When told that the Council has no funding to provide a car park but community groups could avail of funding streams, Cllr Warnock said that he believed the Council should “step up and do this.”
He said that it is unfair to leave these sort of projects to the community groups even though he acknowledged that the Council does provide help with applications. Cllr Sean McDermott backed his call.
