Diana Tarkovych who lives in Gorvagh, Co Leitrim with her husband Ivan and three children, along with help from her neighbour Norma Cummins, has set up a Facebook page in support of Ukraine and all of those fleeing from the war currently ensuing in Ukraine.
The site is simply called ‘Leitrim Helps Ukraine’ and will specify what is needed for Ukrainian people who are coming to this area, i.e. age appropriate items for children, etc. Simply leave a message and Diana will get back to you.
“There are Ukrainian people living in our communities who have family and friends who are arriving in Leitrim over the coming weeks. They have suffered from a war they did not want and have been forced to leave their homes,” says Diana.
“We are seeking help from the local community to find these people accommodation.
“We have also set up a gofundme page to try and raise funds. These funds will go towards food, medicines and other living costs so that these people can recover and have a new beginning.
“Any additional funds leftover will be given to charity to provide medical aid to those who remain living through the conflict in Ukraine,” she says.
