A LIMERICK man is urging the public to “go all in” this Daffodil Day to help raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
Michael Quinlivan from Thomondgate has previously volunteered on Daffodil Day and is now urging the public to support the event which takes place next month.
Daffodil Day will take place on Friday, March 22 and volunteers from the Irish Cancer Society will be out in force selling daffodils to raise funds for cancer awareness and research.
Mr Quinlivan has been volunteering with the Irish Cancer Society since 1988, over 35 years ago.
Speaking about Daffodil Day last year, Mr Quinlivan said: “I fundraise for the whole month of March every year, even though Daffodil Day is one day nationally.

“I set up a stall in the Milk Market in Limerick around nine years ago now for all the Saturdays in March.
“This year, I will be selling daffodils and fundraising in O’Connell Street and I will move up to around Arthurs Quay Park area - last year alone [2022], I raised €6,500 for charity thanks to the people of Limerick,” he added
CEO of the Irish Cancer Society, Averil Power said: “Every three minutes someone in Ireland hears the words ‘you’ve got cancer.’ There isn’t a family that hasn’t felt the devastating impact of a cancer diagnosis. But no matter what cancer brings, the Irish Cancer Society is here to help.
“All of our essential services, like free counselling, Night Nursing, and patient travel are fuelled by fundraising.
“We simply can’t provide them without the public’s generosity.”
