Shannon rowing club's fashion show
WORLD champion rower Kenny McDonald is set to trade his oars for the runway as he makes his debut on the catwalk at the Shannon Rowing Club Fashion Show.
The Limerick-born garda and champion rower is no stranger to fundraising challenges, both in and out of the water.
In August 2020, he climbed Carrauntoohil – Ireland’s highest mountain - carrying a four-stone rowing machine on his back.
“I’ve spent most of my life competing on the water, but I love trying new fundraising initiatives and I’m excited to support Shannon Rowing Club in this way,” said McDonald.
The world champion rower will be joined on the catwalk by a crew of top rowing athletes including, Megan Carmody, Kate Healy and Shannon Rowing Club captain Michael O’Callaghan, a former coach for the Home Internationals.

“Rowing is not just a sport; it’s a community,” said O’Callaghan. “This event allows us to share the passion of our sport while supporting the vital work of Shannon Rowing Club and we are looking forward to a really great night.”
The evening features models from the Hilary Thompson Agency, and will showcase the latest in local fashion while raising funds to support Shannon Rowing club’s ongoing initiatives.
Some of the shops supporting this event include Frocks, Sinead’s boutique, Marion Murphy Cooney, Tony Connelly’s, DV8, Penny’s, New Look, Esquire Formal Wear, Joanne’s boutique, Pamela Scott, Paco, Ber McNamara and Caroline Mitchell.
The evening will take place on Thursday, February 20, with a prosecco reception at 6.30 pm in Shannon Rowing Club House on Sarsfield Bridge, before an evening of style kicking off at 7.30pm at the Strand Hotel.
