Limerick radio station pulling out all the stops to celebrate 20 year anniversary

West Limerick 102 FM has broadcasting studios in Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale and Rathkeale

West Limerick 102 FM is set to celebrate 20 years on air, with a night of song and dance.

One of the largest community radio services in Ireland with state of the art broadcasting studios in Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale and Rathkeale, West Limerick 102 FM has been transmitting since May 15, 2005. 

As part of this milestone, they will host National Community Radio Day on Friday, June 20 from 10:00am to 2:00pm, in collaboration with Craol, the National Community Radio Forum. 

This special broadcast will highlight the work of West Limerick 102fm and community radio stations across the country and their role in engaging and supporting local communities.

Additionally, to mark the occasion, a 20-year celebration concert will take place on the same evening at The Longcourt House Hotel, Newcastle West. 

Doors will open at 7:30pm for a night of music and entertainment. The line-up includes guest performances from Denis Allen, Johnny Carroll, PJ Murrahy, Big Maggie, Billy O’Brien, Anthony Fitzmorris, and Different Sounds.  

With over 100 volunteers, and broadcasting over 18 hours a day, every day of the week, the station's aim is to entertain, inform, and celebrate the vibrant community of West Limerick.

Covering areas as diverse as gardening, folklore, current events, cooking, farming, local history and all types of music, the station is also active in profiling local happenings and community events, as well as supporting local businesses and organisations.
