A LIMERICK motorist is due to appear in court after being found to be speeding in a speed check by the Roads Policing Unit.
Gardaí said "a fixed charge notice doesn't cut it here," and arrested the driver on the spot, charging the driver with dangerous driving.
The speed checks were carried out on Sunday evening, August 17.
The motorist was travelling 86km/h over the speed limit at 206km/h.
The incident was detailed in a post shared by An Garda Síochána on Instagram (@gardainsta_limerick) on Sunday night.

The caption read: "Speed checks were carried out this evening by our Roads Policing Unit in Limerick.
"One driver was clocked travelling at 206km/h - 86km/h over the legal limit.
"A Fixed Charge Notice doesn’t cut it here - they were arrested on the spot and charged with Dangerous Driving. Court date ahead at Limerick District Court."
They added the hashtag #SaferRoads.
