Community groups across Limerick receive GMA funding to support local projects

Community groups across the Rathkeale–Adare Municipal District are set to benefit from General Municipal Allocation (GMA) funding following the December monthly meeting of the district council.

Councillors outlined a series of allocations aimed at supporting local community development, volunteer-led initiatives and resident groups across the district.

Cllr Ger Ward confirmed funding for a number of organisations in his area, including €2,000 for Kilcornan Active Group to support ongoing community activities. Kilcornan Community Council was allocated €4,000 to assist with local projects and services, while Wood Road Residents in Foynes received €6,500 to support improvements within the estate.

Additional allocations were announced by Cllr Tommy Hartigan, who confirmed €800 in funding for Pallaskenry Scouts to assist with equipment and programme costs. Kilcornan Community Development also received €4,000 to support its work delivering initiatives for residents and community groups in the area.

Councillors said the funding reflects the importance of supporting grassroots organisations that play a vital role in community life across West Limerick. The General Municipal Allocation scheme provides discretionary funding to councillors to assist local groups with projects, events and facilities that enhance community wellbeing.

Further GMA allocations may be considered at future meetings of the Rathkeale–Adare Municipal District.
