THE ST PATRICK’S Day parade in Bruff this afternoon has been called off at short notice due to “tragic news”.

It was due to start at 2.30pm with participating groups asked to assemble from 2pm in the yard of the national school.

A post on the Bruff Community Page on Facebook at 12.45pm this Tuesday reads: “In light of some tragic news just reaching us we have taken the decision to cancel today’s parade as a mark of respect. The duck race is also cancelled but we intend to run it at a later date.”

The author of the post concludes by saying, “Thank you all for your understanding and continued support.”

The parade organised by Bruff Grange Meanus Community Council always attracts large numbers of floats and big crowds to the town.
