GARDAI are investigating thefts in two Limerick suburbs.

There was a burglary on Father Russell Road in Dooradoyle and a theft in Singland.

Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, Crime Prevention Officer Henry Street Garda Station said:

"This incident came to light on the morning of Monday, the 30th of March. A couple woke to discover that their front door keys and car keys were missing from inside their home.

"Although the house had been locked the night before, they found the front door unlocked that morning. It’s believed the culprits may have used a 'fishing' device through the letterbox to retrieve the keys, which had been left nearby."

Sgt O'Halloran added: "Two cars were then taken from the driveway — a black 2008 BMW and a white 2014 Fiat 500. The Fiat 500 has since been recovered, and investigations are ongoing by Gardai at Roxboro Road Garda Station."

There was another theft from a woman's home in Singland.

Sgt O'Halloran commented: "In a separate incident, a woman returned to her home on Fairgreen Road in Singland in the early hours of Saturday night into Sunday morning, the 28th into the 29th of March, to find that the front number plate of her car had been removed."

Gardaí at Henry Street are investigating and are asking anyone with information to contact them on 061 212400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

"It’s so important because stolen plates can be used in other criminal activity and reporting it early helps us act quickly and may prevent further crimes occurring," said the crime prevention officer.
