The late Hugh Paddy Donohoe, Lisney, Loughduff, Cavan
The death of Hugh Paddy Donohoe, Lisney in the week before Christmas is deeply regretted in the locality.
Known locally as Paddy he passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
Aged 76, Paddy was a hard-working man who spent many years working in the building trade in Dublin and when his father passed away he returned home to run the family farm in Lisney and also took up employment locally.
He was a friendly man who was popular with his colleagues and enjoyed a bit of banter when in his local having a pint.
Paddy was a good neighbour and a gentleman and his passing will be sorely felt in the area.
Sadly in later years he was not out and about as much due to failing sight but he was well supported by his devoted family.
Paddy was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary Kate and his sister Philomena Cadden and he will be sadly missed by his sisters Kathleen McPhillips, Peggy Martin, Rose Quinn (Mattie) and Maura Donohoe (Paddy), his brother Peter (Pee), brother-in-law Paddy Cadden, nieces. nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends to whom we extend our sincere sympathy.
His remains reposed at Reilly’s Funeral Home, Kilcogy on Friday evening December 22 where large numbers came to pay their respects to one of natures gentlemen and removal followed to St Joseph’s church, Loughduff.
Funeral took place on Saturday morning, December 23 following requiem mass with burial in local cemetery. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
