The late Trevor O'Reilly, Cloncovid, Kilcogy, Cavan / Longford
A profound sense of disbelief and numbness settled across the parishes of Mullinalaghta and Mullahoran last Monday morning, June 10 as word spread of the sudden and untimely death of Trevor O’Reilly, Cloncovid and formerly of Toome.
Trevor had only celebrated his fiftieth birthday last month and was in good health and good form as late as the night before his peaceful passing.
Trevor was the eldest son of John and the late Anne O’Reilly (née Kavanagh) and a member of an old and well-respected family in the townland of Toome.
He met the love of his life Róisín Baxter from Ballymachugh, and they married and settled in their fine new home in Cloncovid, where they raised a family of four – Martin, Trevor Jack, Declan, and Melissa.
He had worked for many years as a bus driver for the family business and was greatly loved by his passengers, especially those at the various schools for which he did school transport and those pupils were well represented at his funeral.

He was a great character with a lively sense of humour and was a popular figure at all social gatherings in the neighbourhood.
He had a great love for dogs and horses and it was fitting that his hearse was drawn by two black stallions along the journey from Mullahoran Church to his resting place in the family plot in Mullinalaghta cemetery on Saturday.
He also had a great love for a wide range of music and his fellow AC-DC fans and the band’s music, as well as his love for ballad music, were prominent at the funeral ceremonies with David Reilly providing some fine renditions of Irish airs.
He is survived by his wife Róisín, his father John, his sister Aisling, his brother Philip, his sons Martin, Trevor Jack, and Declan, his daughter Melissa, Trevor Jack’s partner Leah, Declan’s partner Ellie, his beloved grandchildren Nedaleigh and Bonnie, his mother-in-law Ann, his uncles and aunts, his brothers- and sisters-in-law, his nephews and nieces, his relatives, neighbours and a huge circle of friends to whom we offer our profound sympathy.
The affection and respect in which he and his wider family are held were reflected in the large crowds who attended the wake at his home on Thursday and Friday, June 13 & 14, and his Funeral Mass on Saturday in Mullahoran Church, celebrated by Fr Peter McKiernan, and those who waited at the cemetery for the arrival of his cortege and the burial obsequies.
His passing leaves an enormous void in both communities and his smiling face and merry laughter will be profoundly missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
