The Late Daniel (Danny) Calders, Tycusker, Arvagh, Cavan
It is with regret that we record the death of Daniel Calders, Tycusker, Arva which occurred in the Lisdarn Care Unit, Cavan on Saturday, March 29 after a long illness.
Danny as he was popularly known was one of a family of 11 born to Joe and Molly Calders and he left school at 12 years to work with local farmers.

After a number of years he went to England to work as was the norm in those times. He came back home when a job became available in Roadstone, Coronea where he worked for 22 years. He then worked in Readymix, Moyne for a number of years.
He set up the Arva Cleaning Company and retired from that just before Covid struck. He married his first wife Bridie Mulvey who sadly passed away on Christmas Day 1987.
In 1989 he married Bernie Houlihan and they set up a care facility in their home for elderly people. Over the intervening years they cared for 97 elderly people in a loving environment.

Danny had a great love for the outdoor life and spent many long days fishing. He also loved to go out shooting during the season. He was a GAA supporter all his life following the fortunes of Arva and Cavan.
Danny was predeceased by his first wife Bridie, sisters Julie, Eileen, Maureen, his brother Terry and his infant brother Patrick. He is survived by his wife Bernie, son Damien, grandchildren Cian and Mina, his brothers Jet, Noel, Tom, Brendan, sister Tina and a large extended family, neighbours and many friends to all of whom we extend sincere sympathy.

Danny reposed at his residence on Monday, March 31 and his Funeral Mass was concelebrated by Fr Oliver O’ Reilly C.C. Arva assisted by Fr Andrew Tully P.P. Killeshandra in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva on Tuesday, April 1 with interment in St Mary’s Church cemetery, Carrigallen. Danny was taken to the Church and from there to Carrigallen on his beloved boat on which he got so much enjoyment over many years.
