More than €660,000 received by Longford County Council for community initiatives last year

More than €660,000 has been received by Longford County Council under the Community Services Programme (CSP), according to new figures.

The funding initiative supports community-based organisations and enables them to provide local services and create employment for people who may face obstacles or challenges securing work.

THE CSP scheme is managed by Pobal on behalf of the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht supporting community-based not-for-profit companies and co-operatives.

The figures were released after Clare TD Cathal Crowe submitted a parliamentary question to Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development, Jerry Buttimer.

A total of €7 million euro was allocated to local authorities nationwide under the CSP 2025 funding initiative.

A breakdown of the monies showed that Longford received €666,000, while neighbouring counties such as Roscommon and Leitrim were allocated €3 million and €1.7 million respectively.

Monaghan received €1.6 million, while Cavan were given €379,000 under the CSP.
