Dundalk Railway Heritage Society to host noted railway historian

The Dundalk Railway Heritage Society are holding a lecture on the town’s railway heritage on January  21st in the Oriel Centre Dundalk commencing at 3 PM.

The lecture will be presented by noted Irish Railway Historian Charles P Friel.

The lecture will be an illustrated presentation featuring photographs of local railway interest some of which are being shown for the first time.

Charles would be delighted to hear from people who may be able to identify personnel in the photographs.

Charles is a member of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland and has presented lectures on Irish railways in Ireland and in the UK.

The talk will be given in memory of the late Des Casey who was  a founding member of the Dundalk Railway Heritage Society and served as chairman and Hon President for many years.

Des made a major contribution to the operation of the society.

He sadly passed away in August of 2022.
