Dundalk Institute students' short films screening in An Táin

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) said they are thrilled to report that short films made by students last year on Year 3 of the BA (Hons) in Film & Television Production will screen in An Táin Arts Centre as part of their ongoing Film Club programme this Spring.

These short films are being screened as part of an ongoing collaboration between the Department of Creative Arts, Media & Music and An Táin Arts Centre.

Last semester also saw recent graduates from the BA (Hons) in Film & Television Production, Terry Creagh and Luke Malone, now both PhD students in DkIT, facilitate discussions around films previously screened as part of the An Táin Film Club programme.

Speaking about the collaboration, Paul Hayes, Director of An Táin Arts Centre said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to screen short films from DkIT students as part of our monthly film club.

“Our audience will get the chance to see the next generation of film makers before they embark on their careers. It will also give the students the opportunity the see their films in front of the general public which should provide for a great learning experience.'

Programme Director of the BA (Hons) in Film & Television Production, Sarah McCann added: “The short films made as part of our year-long Film Project in 3rd year continue to be a springboard upon which our students can launch their careers when they enter industry, with a history of being screened at festivals at home and abroad.

“These screenings on home soil in Dundalk offer a great opportunity to our students to share their films with a local audience.”
