The Tournament Committee set competitors a novel task in the opening SuperValu Series event by asking them to take on the 14 Holes in play with just five clubs.

Paul Culligan definitely found the right combination as he shot the best score of the weekend and claimed his first prize since joining the club a couple of years ago.

Playing off 23, Culligan produced a very steady round which included a four-point par at the eighth and three-point pars at fifth and 14th, as well as three-point bogeys at the first. third. seventh, ninth and 10th.

That gave him a total of 34pts which was enough to win Division 4 by one point from Tony Duffy (23). Damien Garland (5) captured Division 1 by two points from Desmond McKeown (8) after shooting 31pts.

Meanwhile Anthony Tuite (12) shot 33pts in edging out Sean McErlean (13) to take Division 2. The Division 3 winner was Adrian Kenny (16) who also shot 33pts as he pipped Ray Pepper (16) by one point.
