Tributes pour in following sad death of man who was 'a little bit of magic' in Louth

Joey McGuinness passed away on Tuesday

Tributes have poured in following the sad death of Joey McGuinness, late of Collon Road, Tullyallen, Drogheda, Co. Louth who passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, peacefully in his 96th year at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Joey is predeceased by his son Enda.

Loving husband to Nancy and dad to Eamonn, Rosaleen, Brendan, Kevin, Garvan, Finian, Máirín, Joanne, Tomás and Nicholas.

He will be sadly missed by his wife and family, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers Mick and Johnny, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and remembered Joey, with one mourner writing,

"Sincere condolences to Nancy and all the Mc Guinness family, on the very sad loss of Joey. He will be very sadly missed around the village, always good for a great chat when you would meet him. May he rest in Peace."

Another wrote,

"Sincere condolences to Nancy and the entire McGuinness family on the sad passing of Joey. He was a lovely neighbour and a pleasure to meet and have a chat with, always left with a smile after taking with him. May he rest in peace."

While another wrote,

"Our heartfelt condolences to Nancy & Family. We will miss Joey over in Sheepgrange, he was a little bit of magic around the forest when he’d come over for sticks. Adored by us all."

Funeral Arrangements 

Reposing at his home on Thursday from 4pm until 8pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday at 11am in the Church of the Assumption, Tullyallen and can be viewed live here. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

No flowers please, a Prayer for Joey will be appreciated.

House private on Friday.
