Louth tenants' union CATU organise 'Gig for Fair Housing' fundraiser

A 'Gig for Fair Housing' is taking place in the Spirit Store on Sunday, December 22nd in aid of the Community Action Tenants' Union (CATU).

Founded in 2019, CATU is a national tenants' union in Ireland and is a mass membership organisation representing renters, council tenants, mortgage holders, and people in emergency or precarious living situations.

CATU is an advocacy group for tenants in that they fight for tenants' rights and better housing conditions while offering support and advice to union members on housing issues.
The tenants' union also organises and engages in collective action through organising and empowering tenants to take collective action to improve their living conditions while building strong communities and fostering solidarity among tenants.
CATU is a grassroots organisation that is funded and run by its members. The group say they are committed to fighting for a more just and equitable housing system in Ireland.
This gig is being organised by the Louth branch of CATU and is being run by local community members.

Tickets are for sale on Spiritstore.ie and are €15 each with all funds going to CATU and all of the artists and organisers are giving their time for free.

The line up includes Negro Impacto, Dundalk Dolls, Orwell's 84, Local Boy, Brian Casley, Geansaí, Rowan, Joshua King and Clara Byrne.

Doors open at 7.30pm and there will be two stages, an acoustic stage downstairs and a live stage upstairs. Organisers said: "People should come and support if they feel like they want to get involved in finding community based solutions to the housing crisis."
