Daniel Dennehy new Deputy Principal at Scoil Uí Mhuirí
Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) said it is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Daniel Dennehy as Deputy Principal at Scoil Uí Mhuirí, Dunleer, Co. Louth.
As a Deputy Principal within the LMETB Schools Directorate, Daniel will also have the collegial support of the Senior Management teams in LMETB’s other eighteen Post Primary schools, four Community National Schools, three PLC colleges and the Centre for European Schooling in Dunshaughlin.
Daniel holds an Undergraduate Degree in Maths and Irish from University of Limerick and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from Trinity College, Dublin.
Bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise to the role, Daniel has worked in Eureka Secondary School Kells, Co. Meath since 2013 as a teacher of Maths and Irish.
Daniel has significant experience and expertise in the areas of school leadership and management having been appointed to an Assistant Principal post in Eureka Secondary School, a LMETB spokesperson said.
Throughout his time in Eureka Secondary School, Daniel worked on the areas of Positive Behaviour Management, curriculum and timetable planning, student attendance, student retention and attainment and monitoring and tracking student performance.
Daniel said he looks forward to bringing this experience and expertise to his new leadership and management role at Scoil Uí Mhuirí, Dunleer.
Daniel also recognises the link between high quality teaching, learning and assessment methods and student motivation, attendance, retention, achievement and attainment and he is committed to supporting and promoting student attendance, teacher professional development and assessment for learning approaches at the school.
Daniel has a keen interest in sports and will work with all members of the school community to enhance the range of co-curricular and extra curricular activities at the school.
Daniel has particular interest in the use of Digital Technologies in teaching and learning and leadership and management and said he looks forward to sharing his experience and expertise in these areas in Scoil Uí Mhuirí.
Daniel has also worked extensively on the School Self Evaluation Process and in particular on the numeracy and literacy element of same and he looks forward to working with the Scoil Uí Mhuirí community in the area of School Self Evaluation.
LMETB schools receive considerable support, guidance and direction from the Director of Schools Ms. Fiona Kindlon and within the Organisation, Support and Development Directorate, LMETB Schools and Colleges avail of a range of supports including Human Resources, Buildings, ICT, Finance and Corporate and Education Services.
This network of support at Head Office level supports the work of the LMETB Board in ensuring that all LMETB schools/colleges/centres are compliant in the areas of Corporate Governance. Daniel said he looks forward to engaging with personnel in these sections of LMETB over the coming weeks as he plans for transition to his new leadership role within LMETB.
