Loredana Morosanu was found dead at a property in Melville Terrace, Finglas, shortly after 4.30am on Monday.

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman in Finglas.

The body of a woman, identified locally as Loredana Morosanu, was found at a property in Melville Terrace, Finglas, Dublin, shortly after 4.30am on Monday.

On Tuesday evening, Daniel Simion Toader, aged 47, appeared before a special sitting of Dublin District Court charged with her murder.

The accused, also with an address at Melville Terrace, was assisted by a Romanian interpreter during the proceedings.

Sergeant Niall Murray, of Finglas Garda Station, told the court the accused had been arrested on Tuesday evening for the offence of murder.

He said he had been cautioned after the arrest and made no reply to the charge after being cautioned.

Judge Máire Conneely asked if the accused had legal representation.

Sgt Murray said he had eight consultations during his detention but was not represented in the court room.

He said his circumstances had been explained to him “at length” including the consequences of a murder charge on bail prospects.

The judge noted the dispute involving criminal legal aid solicitors and said “hopefully that will be resolved soon”.

Due to the murder charge, there was no opportunity for bail.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday morning.
