Earlier this year, a call was made for projects to promote organic production in Ireland
Ten projects to promote organic production have been awarded total funding of almost €1-million per year for the years 2025, 2026 and 2027.
Included in this is Limerick and Tipperary Organic Farmers group, which will receive €15,000 this year and also in 2026 and 2027 for their ‘Farmer to Farmer Learning through Farm Walks’ and other projects.
They plan to organise eight events each year, demonstrating best practice on Grassland Management, Environmental, Organic Cereal and Innovations, Animal Welfare, Soil Fertility and Biology, and Housing and Finishing Organic Livestock, in conjunction with Industry Experts.
"They also plan to support a network of discussion groups for new farmers and young farmers to promote Organics and mentor these farmers in the early stages of development", says Tipperary TD, Deputy Michael Lowry.
Earlier this year, a call was made for projects to promote organic production in Ireland, in line with the European Organic Action Plan and Ireland’s National Organic Strategy 2024-2030.
A large number of applicants came forward with varied proposals submitted to the Department for Agriculture, Food and the Marine
The projects selected will help to meet Ireland’s objectives for the National Organic Strategy.
They cover a very broad area, from an Organic Academy which can provide training for agricultural advisors and entrepreneurs, to projects supporting farm walks and a national ‘Moreganic’ advertising campaign.”
Those who were unsuccessful in their application, or who didn’t apply to the call are encouraged to take time to view the National Enterprise hub, at: https://www.neh.gov.ie/
