Searches for a man who was reported missing from his home in Dublin more than three weeks ago have been stood down, gardai have confirmed.

An urgent appeal for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 43-year-old Damien Downes was issued last month after he disappeared on Monday, July 22.

At the time, gardai expressed concerns for his wellbeing and gardai said he was possibly travelling in a 131 white Vauxhall Insignia van.

In an update, issued this Wednesday, authorities confirmed there has been a positive outcome.

"Damien Downes, aged 43 years, who was missing from Whitechurch, Dublin 16 since Monday, July 22, 2024 has been located safe and well. No further media action is required. An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance," read a brief statement.

No further information regarding how and where Damien was located has been disclosed publicly.
