Gardaí issue statement as three teenage girls go missing from Kildare

Gardaí have launched three separate missing persons appeals in relation to teenage girls missing in the Co Kildare area over the last few days.

One of the girls, Kaitlyn O'Brien, who had been missing from the Newbridge area area has been found safe and well while the appeals to find the other two girls, both missing from Athy, remain open.

Gardaí are seeking the public's assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 15-year-old Caoimhe Prendergast, who is reported missing from Athy, since Saturday, August 17, 2024. Gardaí renewed their appeal to find Caoimhe on Tuesday.

"Caoimhe was last seen on the afternoon of Saturday 17th August, 2024 at approximately 12.45pm. Caoimhe is described as being approximately 5 foot 5 inches in height, with a slim build, red hair and blue eyes," a statement read.

When Caoimhe was last seen, she was wearing light brown shorts, a dark brown jacket and black shoes (sliders).

It is believed that Caoimhe may have travelled to the Kilkenny or Carlow areas.

Gardaí and Caoimhe’s family are concerned for her wellbeing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station on 045 527730, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Meanwhile, a separate appeal is out to find Amber Martin (16) who is also missing from Athy since the early hours of Tuesday morning, September 3.

"Amber is described as being approximately 5 foot 4 inches in height with a slight build. She has brown hair and blue eyes. It is not known what Amber was wearing when last seen," a statement read.

Amber is also known to frequent the Co. Kilkenny area.

Gardaí and Amber’s family are concerned for her wellbeing.

Anyone with information on Amber’s whereabouts is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station on 045 527730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
