Update issued on five year-old girl stabbed in Parnell Square weeks after 281-day hospital stint

The family of the young girl who was stabbed in an incident on Parnell Square last year have issued an update on her health weeks after she was released from hospital.

The five-year-old girl spent 281 days in Temple Street Children's Hospital following a stabbing incident outside a school on Parnell Square, which took place in broad daylight on November 23, 2023.

In an update on the GoFundMe page set up for her care, the young girl's family revealed she was discharged earlier this month, and is beginning her rehabilitation journey.

The family revealed this week that the young girl is now in the fourth week of "gym", and said the new hospital where she is being treated is "really inspiring".

"We can see changes in our little angel on a daily basis," the girl's parents said in a statement.

"We would like to thank you all for your generosity. The money has come a long way".

Over the last months the family had to move to a more spacious temporary accommodation with wheelchair accessible layout, and get an adapted car.

"We are hoping to be home full time before Christmas," the family said.
