The family of the young girl who was stabbed in an incident on Parnell Square last year said she has "come so far" after coming home from hospital this summer.
The child spent 281 days in Temple Street Children's Hospital following the stabbing incident outside a school on in Dublin city centre, which took place in broad daylight on November 23, 2023.
"We have had family over from far away and they were so impressed with how much she has improved," her family shared on the official GoFundMe page set up for her care.
The family share how the now six-year-old girl has "been more in control of her neck movements, and can lift her head more and more without assistance", since her discharge in August.
"She can move her arms up purposefully, and grasping objects with full intent. She is working on her ability to communicate through a computer programme, and is getting faster at it," the update, posted earlier this month, went on.
"She is so loving. She can be having a rough day, but will still smile when people walk into the room. She loves pretending to hide. She gets a good laugh out of it."
"Almost a year in. Time has flown, and we have come so far. We still have so much to accomplish."
Almost €120,000 has been raised so far for the little girl and her family through the GoFundMe page, which was set up in the days after the Parnell Street attack.
The five-year-old was one of three children who, along with their carer, were injured in the multiple stabbing at Coláiste Mhuire, Parnell Square in November 2023.
A man in his 50s, Riad Bouchaker, has been charged in relation to the attack.
The two other children, aged five and six, and Leanne Flynn, their carer, have all since been released from hospital.
