The author of the note, Katelynn, would now be about 18-years-old
An appeal has been launched following the discovery of a message in a bottle that washed up on a beach in Kerry the day after Storm Éowyn.
The bottle with a sweet note inside was discovered by a local man, who wishes to remain anonymous, while on a walk at Rossbeigh beach, in South Kerry.
The message was sent to sea over a decade ago, in January 2015, and was written by a then 8-year-old girl named Katelynn.
The note reads, "Hi, I am Katelynn. I am from Kerry. I am sending this letter to say hello to the people in (the) future. I am 8. I am in second class. Lovely to talk to you, bye. This letter has been sent on the 3rd of January on 2015. Bye"
Local Councillor Podge Foley was given the note by a friend who discovered it. He then posted it to social media in hopes Katelynn, who would now be about 18-years-old, would come forward.

Speaking to Ireland Live, Cllr Foley said, "She might be in college now I say. We put it up on Facebook and still, no one is coming forward, which is strange. The name Katelynn is well is not a very popular name around here. The note is really just wishing everyone the best in the future, so it would be nice to find who it was."
Many Kerry locals took to the comments of Cllr Foley's social media post, claiming they are doing their best to locate the author of the note, with one person jokingly saying, "Yeah, I know her. She wants the bottle back for 15 cent."
