Several crime scenes sealed off as major garda investigation is underway following late-night incident
A major garda investigation is underway after a man died and another was seriously injured during a late-night incident in Dublin city centre.
While exact details remain unclear, gardai have confirmed they attended a public order incident at South Anne Street, close to Grafton Street, in the early hours of this Saturday.
A man who sustained injuries in the suspected stabbing was taken by ambulance to St James’ Hospital in Dublin where he was later pronounced dead.
A second man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

There is a large garda presence in the area where the incident happened and a number of crime scenes have been preserved pending forensic and technical examinations by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.
Footpaths around St Stephens Green and Dawson Street are among the areas which have been sealed off and closed to members of the public.
As part of their investigations, gardai are seeking to obtain and view any video or CCTV footage of the incident and the events leading up to it.
Commenting on social media, local Sinn Fein councillor Daithí Doolan said what happened is "deeply troubling".
"Thoughts are with the man's family and friends. Wishing the other victim a speedy recovery. I'd appeal to anyone with information to please cooperate fully with the gardai," he wrote.
