ALERT: Popular brand of lifejackets in Ireland urgently recalled due to 'risk of drowning'
TRIBORD lifejackets have been urgently recalled in Ireland due to a reported risk of drowning.
The warning came earlier this week from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) as more and more people flock to beaches and rivers to swim during the summer weather.
In their recall notice, the CCPC said: "During use, following repeated impacts on the product, it could pierce resulting in reduced buoyancy and a risk of drowning."
People have been urged to stop using the lifejacket immediately.

The impacted TRIBORD lifejackets were sold from 1 March, 2024 up until recently. They have a model number 8801769, barcode 3608390327027, and article/item code 4855900.
Anyone who may have purchased the affected lifejackets can return them to their nearest Decathlon Store to receive a refund.
The CCPC added that if you purchased your lifejacket online or if you wish to seek more information, you can contact Decathlon’s Customer Relation Centre via the email at help.ireland@decathlon.com.
