The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued an urgent recall for a batch of frozen chicken kievs due to the presence of salmonella.
The affected batch is the Braemoor Red Hen Ham and Cheese Chicken Kievs which have an expiry date of October 2026 and are sold in 500g packs.
Retailers have now been instructed to remove the product in question from sale and display recall notices at points of purchase.
Wholesalers and distributors are being requested to contact their affected customers and recall the implicated batch and provide a point of sale recall notice to their retail customers.
Consumers are being advised not to eat the implicated batch whilst caterers are also being instructed not to use the product over potential the health risks.

The FSAI have warned that people infected with salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection but this can often vary between 6 and 72 hours.
the most common symptom is diarrhoea. Other symptoms may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days.
The elderly, infants and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness.
The FSAI is urging consumers to return the implicated batch if found immediately and not to eat them under any circumstances.
