BREAKING: Young man accidentally shot and killed in Carlow tragedy

A young man was accidentally killed in county Carlow on Tuesday evening after what was believed to have been an injury from a shotgun.

It's believed the man was hunting in the Leighlinbridge area of the county around 11pm last night when the fatal shooting occurred.

Gardaí said in a statement,

"Gardaí were called to a firearms incident at a rural location near Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow, late yesterday evening, Tuesday 2nd December 2025.

"A male aged in his early 20s sustained fatal injuries.

"The scene is currently held for technical examination.

"Enquiries are ongoing and no further information is available at this time."
