Man in his 20s charged in hit and run that left two young people seriously injured

The man in his 20s arrested on Tuesday afternoon in connection with a hit and run in Cavan last Tuesday that left two people injured, one critically, has been charged.

Immediately after the collision, it's understood the driver of the car fled on foot following the crash, leaving the passenger of the car injured.

The pedestrian, a girl in her 20s, is currently in critical condition and receiving treatment in hospital.

The man is due to appear before Monaghan District Court at 10:30am this morning, February 25, 2026.

Investigations are ongoing.
