Saturday, Janurary 28 saw Sorcha Nic An Bhaird from Gaelchólaiste Chéitinn, Chluain Meala, speaking at the Regional Final and winning her way into the national final of the highly prestigious Soroptomist International Girls Public Speaking Competition held in Bray, county Wicklow.

Sorcha, who is currently in Bliain a Cúig, spoke powerfully and eloquently on the topic of Peace and Democracy.

Her classmate, Faye Ní Conchuir, who also took part in the Regional Final on the same day, attained the reserve speaker spot for the national final. Faye’s chosen topic, about which she spoke with with passion and conviction, centered on how the success of every woman is inspirational to other women.

The national final will be held in early March. Go n-eirí go geal libh a chailíní!
