Composer Marian Ingoldsby
Carrick-on-Suir born composer Marian Ingoldsby will perform a charity concert of piano music in aid of Deise Animal Sanctuary at Carrick-on-Suir’s Nano Nagle Community Centre Chapel on Saturday, March 11 at 1pm.
All are welcome to attend what will be a wonderful and most enjoyable afternoon of Marian performing to help support the tireless work of the caring volunteers at the Deise Animal Sanctuary in the Nire Valley, who rely on the generosity of the public to fund their support of the abandoned animals in their care
Marian has composed orchestral, solo, chamber, choral and vocal music and her commissions include the Opera Theatre Company who premiered her chamber opera, Hot Food with Strangers, in 1991, which was also performed in Covent Garden.
She has also been commissioned to compose for the National Symphony Orchestra, Presteigne International Festival of Music, Wales, Cork International Choral Festival, the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition and the Ulster Orchestra which premiered her “Heron by the Weir” in 2008.
Marian has also composed for young performers. Lily’s Labyrinth, is a children’s opera she composed.
She has recently composed music to accompany a short film, The Reburial of Jackie Brett. The film was screened last year in the Butler Gallery in Kilkenny during the Kilkenny Heritage Festival.
Tickets for the Nano Nagle Centre concert can be purchased at the door. They cost €10 and €5 for old aged pensioners, students and children.
