The massive Clare victory in Croke Park against Cork drew great celebrations nationwide and one Tipperary man on the sideline also rejoiced as he had played a key part in the Banner success.

Shane Hassett from Drom Inch has been plying his trade across the Shannon for the last number of years and was namechecked by winning captain Tony Kelly as playing a key part in the success which is just the 5th time ever that Clare have won the top prize in hurling.

Closer to home the win was lauded as well by the Drom-Inch club who were thrilled to see one of their own succeed on the biggest of stages: "Well done to Drom-Inch clubman Shane Hassett and the Clare Hurlers on winning an epic All Ireland final (after extra time). This was Shane's 4th year involved in coaching the Clare Senior Hurling team," a statement says.

The club pointed out the significance of the contribution the star coach made: "In his first two years, he was the lead S&C coach before moving into the role of Hurling coach/ selector for the last two years. Shane has been an instrumental figure in Clare's progress in recent years. Well done Shane on this huge achievement & congrats from all in Drom-Inch GAA club."
