Gaelic Masters Association Hurling Championship - Round 2
Tipperary 7-29
Kildare 0-6
Tipperary’s Master hurlers ran riot in Clane GAA pitch last Saturday afternoon where they put an understrength Kildare side to the sword in the beautiful sunshine to record their second win in as many games in the Gaelic Masters Association Hurling Championship.
With several new faces being fielded for this game, it was another impressive outing from the Tipperary team as they ran amok scoring seven well-crafted goals against a Kildare team that struggled to get the numbers together for the game, lining out with just 16 players on the day which made it difficult for them to be competitive against a slicker and more talented Tipperary team.
Declan Fanning, Joe Caesar, Hugh Moloney, Niall Curran, and Martin Treacy all came into the squad and freshened up the effort as the Premier old guard dominated proceedings from the very first whistle with legend Eoin Kelly leading the way again with 1-7 of the teams total come the final whistle.
John Devane bagged two of the seven goals from the full forward position while Lar Corbett netted a brace himself before pulling out of the game with a slight injury, while Paul Kelly and Joe Caesar found the net in the second half when introduced.
Kildare offered little resistance as the likes of Nigel Kenny, John O’Brien, and Paul McGrath all hit lovely scores in what was a mismatch on reflection.
This win now makes it two wins from two for Ger ‘Redser’ O’Grady’s team and they will face Cork in the next round on Saturday week in Ballygiblin GAA pitch where they will be hoping to put one foot into the final
