Film crew from Diceman Productions: Louis Buggy, Giula Petricca and Matthew Hickey
The new short film by the Fionn MacCumhaill Players premiered in Cloneen to a packed house in Cloneen Sports and Social Club.
The red carpet was out and the stars of Bridget shone to great effect on the big screen.
The sad story about the burning of Bridget Cleary murdered by her husband in 1895 has long since been a talking point around the world as in the village and the locality. Many films and documentaries books and plays have been written about it.
LOCAL WRITERS
This one however seems different probably because two local writers from Cloneen take a different and more genuine view of events. Anne Williamson and Brian Clancy put together a script that tells the story in a sensitive manner.
Both would have heard the stories growing up and those old enough to remember a time before electricity and TV will no doubt have heard the stories by the fireside as neighbuors told eerie tales of ghosts and banshees.
SOLD OUT
There were sold out venues in Fethard and Cloneen. The film will be screened in Mullinahone on November 16 and in The Source in Thurles on November 27.
Well done to Cloneen Sports Hall committee for the huge effort they put in for the occasion and the venue was looking splendid.
