Deputy Michael Lowry has been informed that the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) is now inviting people to participate in its Independent Statutory Review to inform the delivery of safe quality Urgent and Emergency Care in the Mid-West Region of Ireland.

‘I encourage people to participate in this Statutory Review. This is a chance to highlight the reality of the issues being experienced across North Tipperary. It is also an opportunity to have a say in the location of a second A&E in the region’ he says.

Earlier this year, the Minister for Health requested that HIQA conducts a review of Urgent and Emergency care in Ireland’s Mid-West Region with the primary objective of ensuring safe quality acute care in the region.

‘As part of this review, HIQA was requested to consider the case for a second Emergency Department within the region in the context of the population changes in recent years and ongoing pressures at the Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick.

To inform the review, HIQA is now seeking the views of patients, family members, members of the public, healthcare professionals, representative groups and interested parties in the mid-west region.

Visit www.hiqa.ie to complete the submission form. Submissions are open until 15 January 2025.
