Longford Rose Sara-Lee Greene sang Jumbo Breakfast Roll by Tipperary born comedian Pat Shortt on Monday nights Rose of Tralee
The Rose of Tralee returned to Irish screens last night, Monday, August 18, with the first 18 of the 32 Roses taking to the stage for their interviews and talent performances.
The talents featured was a wide variety of acts, from Irish dancing to plenty of singing, with the Longford Rose adding a comedic twist by performing a song by Tipperary born comedian Pat Shortt.
Longford Rose, Sara-Lee Greene featured last night wearing a stunning light green dress with floral appliques. The qualified mental health nurse's interview with Daithi O'Shea primarily surrounded her work as a mental health nurse in an adult acute mental health unit in Sligo.
Speaking on her advocacy to break down the stigma around mental health Greene explained: "If you broke your leg you wouldn't sit back and let it get better on its own, you just have to even if it's just talking to a friend, or researching, or going to see someone professional, it's just so important to get the help you need [in reference to mental health]."

MC Carl Mullan in her introduction described Longford Rose, Sara-Lee as "known to bring her guitar with her for a singsong on the wards."
Sara-Lee had teased beforehand that she was going to sing and play guitar but kept her song choice under wraps until she took to the main stage.
Her song selection stood out among the talent acts, opting for the Irish comedy classic Jumbo Breakfast Roll by Pat Shortt.

On her unique song choice, which was last sung at the Rose of Tralee in 2008 by O'Shea's wife Rita Talty when she was the New Jersey Rose, Greene, explained that she originally had a different song chosen earlier in the week but changed it as " we, the Roses, came up with a bit of a theme tune for the week."
Asking the crowd to sing along with her, Sara-Lee stated that she hoped to "embody a bit of Pat Shortt and do the Jumbo Breakfast Roll."
With Daithi stating that: "We are looking forward to the 2025 edition", Sara-Lee played her guitar and sang Jumbo Breakfast Roll while the crowd sang along and cheered.
The Rose of Tralee continues tonight live on RTE from 8pm where the new Rose of Tralee for 2025 will be announced.
