A TULLAMORE golfer has played a starring role on a Leinster inter-provincial winning side. Evan Monaghan and the Leinster Under 16 team won the All Ireland Inter Provincial championship held at Ballykisteen Golf Club 21st and 22nd August.
Rahan youth Evan, a student at Killina Secondary School, played Danny Lyne, Munster Tuesday morning, winning 4 and 3 and Eoin Kelly, Connaught Tuesday afternoon, winning 7 and 6.
Leinster entered Wednesday's final round Vs Ulster requiring 2 full points to win. Evan paired with Sean Cooper led in the foursomes narrowly loWsing on the 18th, but Leinster took 3 points out of the 5 on offer to win the championship outright.
Evan has been selected on the Irish team of six to play the prestigious Ireland Vs England match to be held at Carton House Maynooth this October.
