The Labour Party have selected Roscrea native Jordan Lewis to contest the local elections in the Roscrea/Templemore electoral area. The 26 year old will be the youngest candidate for the Labour Party in the whole country.

He was selected at the party’s selection convention last Friday night which was held in Fitzpatrick’s Bar in Clonmore, where Jordan currently works while completing his degree in Mortary Science.

The convention was addressed by Alan Kelly T.D., Councillor Fiona Bonfield and Louise Morgan Walsh, who is contesting the Nenagh Municipal Area and it was chaired by Cllr Conor Sheehan who works as the party’s regional organiser.

Jordan Lewis said: “I’m over the moon to have been selected to contest the election for the Labour Party and I am delighted to see so many friends and family members here with me.

“I will do everything I can to win a seat and provide a fresh new voice in the area at council level”.

Deputy Kelly said: “Jordan is an incredible candidate and it’s easy to see why he is so popular with people. He’s energetic and full of new ideas and as our youngest candidate in the whole country I look forward to working with him and seeing him elected in June”.
