Creativity on display in Offaly school as pupils create spooky masterpieces

Some examples of the creativity that was on display at Birr's Gaelscoil na Laochra.

PUPILS and parents in Gaelscoil na Laochra were busy this week creating spooky masterpieces.

The annual pumpkin competition inspired the school community to create some amazing artwork. The standard has been higher each year and this year's creations did not disappoint. The staff had the difficult task of choosing a winner. Each pumpkin was thoughtfully finished and it was clear that families spent time working together and being creative. Well done to the winners!

It has been an extremely busy half term in the school. The new ASD class welcomed six new pupils. All pupils have been playing tag rugby and learning GAA skills. Music Generation have been working with all pupils and some classes took part in their Céiliúradh Mór recently in Birr Theatre. The boys on the football panel made it to the final of Cumann na mBunscol along with their team mates from St. Brendan's Boys School.

This week also saw pupils from 5th and 6th class recording episodes for Midlands103's Clár sa Charr. The new afterschool club is proving extremely beneficial to busy parents and is open Monday-Thursday.

The school has settled into their new building and all are enjoying the new facility. Enrolment for September 2025 opens on November 4th. Forms are available from the office and on the school's website www.gaelscoilnalaochra.com .
